This course is for people who would like to a secure foundation in childcare, literacy, numeracy and ICT as a first step to embarking on a career working with children.

- Unit 3 Food and Nutrition
- Unit 4 Health and Safety
- Unit 5 Care of Children
- Unit 6 Play and Practical Activities
- Unit 7 Orientation to Work Programme
FUTURE OPTIONS:
You may go on to Employment within the Early Years sector and/or a higher level qualification such as:
- CACHE NVQ Level 2 Children’s Care, Learning and Development
- CACHE Level 2 Diploma in Childcare and Education
QUALIFICATION (on successful completion)
CACHE Foundation Award In Caring for Children Level 1
- Ability to read, write and speak about familiar topics and interests (Entry 3 or Level 1)
- A genuine enthusiasm and interest in children and a willingness to learn
You will be expected to attend a placement in an appropriate childcare environment one day per week
You may need to complete a CRB Disclosure form and pay for the check to confirm you have no criminal convictions that would prevent you from working with children.
DAYS/ TIMES: 3 days per week: 9:30-3.30
DURATION: Usually 36 weeks (1 year)
