Financial Assistance for learners under 19

If you have lived in the UK or any European Union (EU) country for three years, and are under the age of 19 on 31 August 2011, you will not have to pay fees for your main course at NEWTEC.

If you are over the age of 19 before 31 August 2011, or are not an EU national, or have not lived in the UK for most of the last three years you will be charged course fees.

Education Maintenance Allowances (EMA)

Learners aged 16, 17 or 18 with a household income of approximately £30,810 or less can receive weekly payments of up to £30.00.

Discretionary Learner Support Funding

Learners studying on full or part time courses who have a household income of £21,000 or below can apply.  Learners will usually be eligible if they are on a benefit. A contribution towards course related costs can be made by NEWTEC (subject to funding).
