As a parent or carer of a learner at NEWTEC you will play an important role in your child's education. We believe that parents are a key factor to a child’s success by encouraging and influencing their children. And, we very much welcome and value your views on how we might continue to improve our nurseries’ for the future.
Arrivals
On arrival parents or carers will be met by a member of staff or their key worker who will then escort the child and ensure their safety and wellbeing.
Parents will be given the opportunity to relay any important information regarding injuries, medication and any other concerns related to their general care, and this information will be passed on to the nursery managers.
Departures and collection of children
As attendance times vary at each nursery it is important that you adhere to the times stated in your contract for arrival and departure of your child as this enables the nursery to meet staffing ratios.
It is the parents/carers responsibility for the wellbeing of their child on leaving each nursery as once off the premises children are no longer in the care of that nursery.
Please be aware that if a child has not been picked up at their designated time of departure, a senior member of staff will contact the parent/carer to see if there is a known reason as to why their child has not been collected.
If the nursery is unable to make contact with any of the persons named on the registration form then the police will be informed immediately. Two senior members of staff will stay with the child at the nursery until the police have made contact with the parent/carer.
Collection
Please note that it is important that your child is collected at the specified times stated in your contract and agreed between yourselves and the nursery.
Safeguarding
NEWTEC has a strong policy on Safeguarding and we take the safety of each child very seriously. Children are in our care for many hours and days each week. Our prime responsibility is the welfare and the wellbeing of all the children in our care. NEWTEC believes that our duty to the children and parents/carers is to act quickly and responsibly in any instance which may come to our attention.
Sickness & Medication
For the health and welfare of all the children who come to nursery we request that you do not bring your child into nursery if they are ill or have an infectious disease. In the event of illness, we have the right to send any child home, if staff feel that they are not well enough to attend their nursery. Please inform a member of NEWTEC staff if children are unable to attend the nursery.
Accidents
In the event of an accident within our Nurseries the incident will be logged in the accident record book. With regards to head injuries e.g.: BUMPS/ CUTS a nursery member of staff will contact you by phone as we regard these to be serious we will explain what the injury is, how it happened, whether your child showed any signs of unconsciousness, drowsy, dazed, groggy, sickness or any unusual signs, this will then tell you what to look out for at home. In the event of a serious head injury we would ask you to collect your child and seek medical attention.
Settling in at nursery
Your child’s time at NEWTEC should be a happy and enjoyable experience. We always encourage parents to gradually introduce their children to small sessions to help build their confidence. Your child will then get to know the other children and the staff and there will be a familiar face at their first session they attend without parents.
