Mark Street Nursery was established in 2003 and is a 57 place setting for children 3 months to 5 years. We have a team of 22 fully qualified staff who welcome families and their children, ensuring that they feel safe and secure in the nursery environment. We cater for a vast range of children’s needs and support children with English as their second Language.
The nursery has 5 rooms for children in which we have divided the age groups
- Under 2: 9 children
- 2 years: two rooms of 12 children
- 3 years: two rooms of 12 children

The rooms are designed for small groups of children to create a structured learning environment in which staff members can focus and support children.
We support children’s development as individuals and carry out weekly detailed observations to observe the child’s current stage of development. Each child has an activity planned to support and develop their needs as an individual learner each week.
We have created an environment that reflects the cultural background and diversity of all children. We ensure that all cultures are positively reflected throughout the nursery with the use of resources such as, books, dressing up clothes and positive images.
The nursery environment is set up to encourage choice and independence. All resources are accessible to all children. Children are encouraged to access resources and to set out activities of their choice and to tidy them away again.
The nursery has developed a library scheme, activity bags, newsletters, open events, parents’ evenings, parent/carer comment board and supervised trips.
